Back to talk about Deltarune againnnnnnnnn :) Chapter five spoilers below what will hopefully be a functional read more/read less button this time! ... I reeeeeaaaally liked this chapter. Part of it all is just that the whole team manages to expand the scope and quality of the game every time (even with the fucking Flowery cutscene hello???????? I legitimately had the whole Noelle "WHAT.WHAT.WHAT." response when I saw that,) but also how we're slowly going deeper into the story. Also straight up cannot believe that Rudy is almost certainly the knight, speaking of, but that's not what made me like the chapter so much. I adored Ralsei's character development so much. Seeing him both slowly accept his own personhood yet in the same breath struggling against it the way he does.... AUGH. Wanting to fill his role so perfectly that everything turns out okay, but wanting even more to be a REAL friend to Susie and Kris in a way that he can't be if he keeps trying to be perfect. It's painfully real. On a more lighthearted note, I looooooove Green. Favorite flower, 10/10, they deserve their $2. I'm a little scared for chapter 6, but I'm really excited to see where it goes and what exactly will be 'confirmed.' Also so so so so so scared about the weird route, but we'll have to wait longer to see exactly how that pans out... the ABORTED weird route however will be incredibly scary. I'm almost certain of this. Let's all get so scared together ok :)

I haven't been here in forever. Anyway, I wanna talk about Deltarune chapter 3 and 4. Spoilers below! I have not succeeded in making a read more/read less button, so I'm putting a sfw Sasuke here. Folks that don't want spoilers, just enjoy Sasuke and move on.

Anyway I absolutely LOVED chapters 3 and 4. There's so much to digest there, but I'll be honest the beginning of chapter 4 got me the most. When I stumbled on that scene in the Holiday's kitchen where they just walk off screen and play the piano, I had to put down my steam deck because I started crying. I think Toby Fox does such a good job of making these really simple, poignant moments that feel so important to the core of the story- and yet it's possible to just completely miss moments like that. Hell, I missed the scene with Asgore in Carol and Rudy's room entire until I watched someone else's playthrough. I will say, one of the things that peeves me a little about fan responses is the idea that 'Susie is the main character.' I understand what they're getting at, but that's not really what 'main character' is, y'know? A main character is a synonym for a protagonist, which within Deltarune is soley us/Kris. Now, is Susie the moral heart of the story? 100% yes. Without Susie being what she is, the moral tone of the story would completely shift and would probably be a weaker narrative overall. But beyond that, I'm honestly so curious about the prophecy. It definitely feels like there's a red herring of 'Susie might not actually be in the prophecy', especially with the presence of the heart on the image. But I'm definitely on the side of thinking the 'bad thing' that's supposed to happen will likely be that Kris is going to die in some way and Susie is going to do something with us/the soul. Either way, I'm super hyped that we only have a year until chapter 5 this time!
